A compatible build starts with exact model numbers—not only brand names. Work through these checks before ordering.
1. CPU and motherboard
Match the processor socket to the motherboard socket. Then confirm the chipset supports that CPU generation and whether a BIOS update is required.
2. Memory
Use the DDR generation supported by the motherboard; DDR4 and DDR5 are not interchangeable. Check maximum capacity, supported speeds, and the recommended slot arrangement.
3. Power supply
Allow headroom above expected system consumption. Confirm the PSU has the CPU and GPU power connectors required by the exact models you selected.
4. Graphics card and case
Compare GPU length, thickness, and slot count with the case limits. Leave room for front-mounted radiators, cables, and airflow.
5. CPU cooler
Check socket mounting support, cooler height, radiator positions, and RAM clearance. High-power CPUs may need a stronger cooler than entry-level models.
6. Storage
Confirm whether each M.2 slot supports NVMe, SATA, or both. Some motherboards disable certain SATA ports when particular M.2 slots are occupied.
